Marker Limitations

We're putting some temporary limitations on the number of markers you can add to a map. We're having trouble keeping the site stable with people creating very large maps, so for now we're limiting the number of markers on a map to 100.

  • Ummm, what if an existing customer's map has more than 100 markers?

  • We've removed the limitation as part of a migration to new servers. We hope the new servers will be able to better support larger maps.

We may still have to put a limit in, but hopefully it will be much higher than 100.

  • So we are once again unlimited?

  • Yes, there are no limitations on the number of markers now. Please try to keep it within reason, though.

  • Oh dear. Sorry - My plan was to keep adding markers indefinatly. so far I have over 600. Have I chosen the wrong platform? I am trying to map the folklore of my area. Was this a mistake?

  • Yes, you are probably using the wrong platform. We've removed the marker limitations, but if you add many more markers the map will become unresponsive.

  • Is there a way to put your own numbers on the markers? I have specific numbers I want to use, but the program seems to put others and I can't figure out how to get them in the right order.

  • Hmm. I just joined with the hope of creating a collaborative map, which would have at least several hundred markers on it.

Does anyone know of a site that can support this?

  • Yes, try ZeeMaps at http://www.zeemaps.com.
